About the cause:
As a young nonprofit organization, the Bluegrass Ambassadors have brought music education to over 20,000 people in 26+ countries, teaching with songs in more than twelve different languages (including Swahili, Urdu, Arabic, Pidgin English mixed with Yoruba, Luganda, Kyrgyz, Czech, and more).
In the week leading up to New Heights, they will bring their unique music education programming to schools in Peoria District 150 and Peoria Heights School District. Their special brand of teaching music through storytelling, improvisation, collaborative performances and songwriting creates positive impressions on children that make them music lovers for life.
This event is made possible with the generous support of the Betty Jayne Brimmer Center for the Performing Arts, Pour Bros. Craft Taproom, Slow Hand Craft Barbecue, White Oak Brewing, Hal Leonard Music Publishing, Kidder Music, WTVP, The Village of Peoria Heights, Shopfront Creative, and the many talented artists performing at the event. Thank you!
A note from The Betty Jayne:
We expect this event to set the tone (no pun intended) for our future as a community performing arts center and launch wonderful opportunities for the performing arts in our region.
During the week leading up to this benefit, the Bluegrass Ambassadors will be working with schools in both Peoria Public School District 150 and Peoria Heights Public School District.
I have seen firsthand how their special brand of teaching through storytelling, improvisation, engaging lessons, songwriting and performing with the kids create positive impressions on children that make them music lovers for life. New Heights will help fund this work with an evening of music and dinner, featuring inspiring performances from successful musicians whose lives and careers were shaped by music, just like the students the Bluegrass Ambassadors work with all year.
What if we could bring more of these opportunities to low-income students in our community?
New Heights for Music Education raises funds to bring BGA’s programs to students in need as arts programs continue to be cut across the country, despite the proven benefits of music education and STEAM data.
With your help, we can help fund and grow this unique music programming for kids who cannot otherwise afford it, strengthening our community's connection to the well-known benefits of music education and connecting children to the greater community, regardless of their socioeconomic status.
Together we can brighten our children, our community, and our future with quality music education.
