The Saturday before St. Patrick’s Day (March 14) is the perfect time to gear up and build your tolerance for the actual St. Patrick’s Day holiday (March 17). Celtic-inspired band The Shanties will be kickin' it at the Betty Jayne, located at 1327 E Kelly Ave, Peoria Heights, from 7:30 - 10:00 pm.
They are the blended singing and instrument sounds of Chrissy Bock on fiddle, John Parkhurst on mandolin and guitar, whistle, Butch Alton Angus on bodhran and Kris Lewis-Parkhurst on guitar and mandolin. Although most of the members are classically trained, their intention over the past 11 years has been to get loose and create an atmosphere reminiscent of the party below deck as in the movie Titanic. This act does not sink however.
